Athletics 2004 which opened in Athens on Friday,13 August 2004; started over a century ago. Athletics first originated in Greece, is back to its birthplace this year. Athens is hosting it this year and about 10,200 are claimed to turn up at the vast event.
The opening ceremony which started at 8:45 pm symbolised the Greek philosophy, for instance fire and water.In the stadium a giant screen counted from 40 seconds and at the hit of zero. The ceremony was described as dazzling by some of the spectators.
